World of YourCrafts: Eagle Lamp Refinish

Hey all! My schedule is finally starting to clear out some, and I can sit down and write some posts! Please excuse the kitchen in the background :)

This will be a bit of a short post, as I kinda forgot to take a "before" picture. Whoopsies! Either way, I found this eagle lamp at a friend's garage clean out, and it looked much different than the picture here. The original lamp was very dark: a bronze-colored eagle with very dark wood for the base. A little bit like this picture I found while trying to find the lamp on the internet:

Obviously this lamp has a different base, but you get the idea. I wanted to spruce it up a bit, originally for the apartment but then for a gift for my uncle, who loves eagles. I have been seeing a lot of glossy, single-color items lately, and I've really liked them. Immediately when I saw this guy I thought "white!" After a few weeks of mulling/trying to find time/getting over my fear of painting an antique, I went spray paint shopping to get started. I ended up buying Krylon's Dual Paint+Primer White Glossy. It works on wood, metal, plastic, etc. At only around $5, it wasn't a bad deal.

I then waited for a sunny day, set my little lamp on a table I was okay getting paint on, and sprayed the sucker! I gave him a few coats, waiting about 10 minutes between each, to make sure he was covered well. I let him dry for 24 hours, then added a nice green shade! I think he turned out looking very chic.
